This is an announcement of a new space that I have put up on the web. It is a blog called, “My IM Odyssey“. It can be found in a sub-domain of my personal site at: http://www.myimodyssey.winklongnecker.com/.

I established this space to chronicle my adventures as a hobby webmaster. The new space tracks my path to monetizing these sites that I have and those that I will put up. It will include my thoughts and findings along the way.

I decided to put up the new space because I want to save this space for less money oriented talk. I will still be learning the craft of web development and applying it to my sites, old and new. There should be news here from time to time.

I have been studying the Internet Marketing idea for some time. I have gained a good bit of knowledge but have not implemented it well. It is time to take that end of the Internet interest to the next level. The new blog will be the chronicle of that adventure.

I have added two more niche article directories. These two and one of my previous sites are signed up with a couple of article delivery services.

The first site had received a few articles from one of the delivery services, but when I went to sign up for my second directory I noticed that the service had been paused. I think that this happened when I changed a preference on the site.

The two latest article sites have not yet begun to receive articles. That is why it is toe tapping time, waiting for the flow of articles to begin in two cases and resume in the third. One of the new article pages is in a very active category, so I expect to have a good bit of content when the site is approved.

I am not expecting a whole lot from the one article distribution system. I have seen several complaints of slow or no delivery from them. That’s ok though because the articles that I have seen on their site are not of the highest quality. I will keep my eyes open for other delivery services and hand pick some articles from the major directories as well.

The site that has delivered a few articles does have very high standards so the quality of the articles is good. I do care about the quality of the content, not just the quantity.

The new directories are Computer Articles, dealing with computer hardware, software, and games and Internet Marketing Articles, dealing with Internet Marketing, Online Business, and Self-Improvement. Check them out if you get a chance.

I put up one more blog today. It has but the one initial post which I did edit quite extensively. I also edited the byline so it does not actually say ‘just another wordpress blog’. I have run across blogs or WordPress sites that still have the defaults in several places, the byline, the initial post, the default about page, and the default comment. I did leave the default comment but will probably delete it if I ever get a real comment.

This blog will be a place to promote electronics deals. I have a couple of blogs that are set up as purely promotional blogs. The posts have been almost exclusively coupon deals or product shouts. I see an occasional visitor, but not enough to have any effect on things. I have been studying this thing for a while now and have come up with what I hope is a better plan for this type of site. If the plan works I will share it with you if I don’t decide to go into the guru business. Without any content it is a bit too early to draw any conclusions as far as this site is concerned.

I put the new blog up on a sub-domain space that has been around for most of a year. The primary domain has been active for over two years, so there is a bit of history. The main sub-domain site was an early attempt at affiliate marketing. I started to put the site together and then got distracted so it has remained an unattractive banner farm site. I did not even complete the info pages that I was building with that style of site when I was working on the strategy.

I have a couple of other sites that I built as well. One has a front page and the banner farm divided into categories. It has attracted few visitors. The other has one of my best accidental domain names. The front page lists categories but also has direct links to the info pages. The category link is to a category directory with a blurb about each advertiser. This one has worked a bit better, but still does not pay the rent. All part of the learning curve.
